We spent one night here and had room 8 on the second floor. We knew about the stairs and no lift from other reviews but this was no problem. We checked in via the Railway Tavern next door. The staff checked us in despite us being earlier than anticipated and showed us to our room. We were unsure about the car parking. However the helpful staff explained that for a refundable deposit of £10, you get a parking voucher to display on your dashboard which enables you to park in the Swannery car park a flat 5 minute walk from the hotel. You are able to park briefly outside the hotel in a loading bay to check in and similarly to return the parking voucher to the hotel and loads your bags on check out. We found all the staff helpful and polite. Our room was large and overlooked the front of the hotel. The shower in particular was fantastic. The breakfast offering is great - you can choose from cereals, full cooked breakfast, eggs on toast in various ways or a bacon or sausage sandwich. We went out for the evening to an amazing Thai restaurant - Monas' - and on our return, we had a couple of drinks in the Railway Tavern. We were not disturbed by any noise from the pub.

The room was clean, comfortable and had everything that you could need. Breakfast after a few beers the previous night was very tasty and cooked to perfection, just what we needed to set us up for another day. Permit parking is 3 minutes away and is effectively complimentary subject to a £10.00 deposit which you get back at the end of your stay. The location was perfect for the purpose that we booked it for and it is extremely close to the railway station and not far from the harbour. The hospitality and friendly welcome was spot on, the pub being next door and the local amenities are extremely handy. My only critique (and I repeat, my only critique) would be that the rooms would benefit from updating decor wise but that is only my personal opinion and is in no way implying a negative review, far from it.

Very convenient to the beach and marina and all restaurants are within 20 mins walk (that is with the walk right around the marina, we were told 30 mins but that must be strolling). Staff very accommodating.. Although you are above a pub and beside the railway station (opposite) and we were the front of the building you didn't hear a thing from either. We were at the front and the only thing I would advise is closing the blinds throughout the day as the room has the sun facing on it and gets hot. Definitely recommend the Jurassic coast boat trip, considering I've never done one in this country before, it was beautiful, And the sand sculpture, amazing. I would definitely return, and I never return twice.

Easy to locate. Close to all amenities. Sensible price. Great breakfast with good choices. Linen and towels were excellent. Room spacious and the staff we dealt with couldn't have been better. Parking arrangement easy and very welcome. We had just attended adear friends funeral, and I have justfinished 8 cycles of chemo, and I just wanted to spend some time by the sea.....your hotel gave us the best options at a good price. Others were same price without breakfast and shared bathroom!!! Would recommend. Thank you so much. You made a difficult time easier.

although a smallish room we only had to sleep in it . power shower was exactly that , best shower used in any b&b i've been at before. Paul the owner was very attentive as was Gareth as were the ladies that worked there. Unfortunately forgot their names. We dont normally sleep above pubs but there was no noise at all from below at all and was very convenient for a little drink before bed . the Railway Tavern is a proper pub, with pool and darts should you wish. Breakfast cooked by Dave was superb and he gave us paced bacon sarnies for the train home.
